Bezeichnend für den seit 1967 produzierten NSU TT war das geringe Fahrzeuggewicht von 685 Kilogramm sowie sein Motor mit 1177 ccm Hubraum und 65 PS Leistung. Kam seine Kraft zur Geltung, konnte das Heck des Sportwagens sehr schnell ausbrechen. Die Leistungsfähigkeit des TT prädestinierte ihn regelrecht für Rennen. Das Originalfahrzeug wurde 1990 von Werner Fuhr in Spanien mit kompletter Renntechnik aufgebaut. Bis zum Jahr 2000 nahm es an diversen historischen Rundstrecken-Rennen in Spanien teil. Im August 2002 erwarb Walter Fassbender den NSU mit 120 PS Leistung, mit dem er seit 2003 erfolgreich an Bergrennen und dem NSU-Bergpokal teilnimmt.
