About Roseanne Morton

Roseanne Morton Petyarre, an Anmatyerre woman, hails from the Utopia region of Central Australia, where she was born in Boundary Bore in 1984. Situated 280 km north-east of Alice Springs in the Northern Territory, Utopia provided the backdrop for Roseanne's traditional upbringing, as she attended school there to remain close to her family.

As a scion of a family of esteemed artists, Roseanne is the daughter of the highly regarded Utopia artist Gracie Morton Pwerle and the granddaughter of the internationally acclaimed Kathleen Petyarre. The artistic tradition within Roseanne's family and the broader Utopia community runs deep. Not only are Gracie's aunties artists, but her sisters, Mary, Rita, and Elizabeth, also contribute to this rich legacy. From a young age, Roseanne absorbed the art of painting her Dreamings, associated ceremonies, and bush foods from her mother, aunties, and grandmothers. She represents an exciting new generation of artists from this region's Petyarre/Pwerle families.

Roseanne resides in Utopia with her husband, James Morris, a Papunya artist, and their two children. Possessing immense talent, this third-generation artist undoubtedly anticipates a long and prosperous career.

About Gracie Morton Pwerle (Mother 1956 - 2024)

Gracie Morton Pwerle, born on Utopia Station around 1956, hails from a family with a rich artistic tradition deeply rooted in the Utopia community. She is the daughter of the renowned artist Myrtle Petyarre and the sister of the well-known artists Gloria and Kathleen Petyarre. Moreover, her sisters, Mary, Rita, and Elizabeth, also carry forward the family's artistic legacy.

Gracie Morton Pwerle embarked on her artistic journey in the late 1980s during the "A Summer Project," which introduced acrylic paints and canvas to the women of Utopia. Her artistry has been widely acclaimed across Australia and internationally. As a senior traditional custodian of the Arnwekety (Bush Plum) Dreaming, Gracie is entrusted with the responsibility of preserving the Dreaming, customs, and traditions associated with the Bush Plum in accordance with traditional law, a duty passed down to her from her father and aunt.

The focal point of Gracie's artwork is the Arnwekety, through which she portrays the seasonal variations that influence the plant. Her creations exude a captivating lyricism, fostering a three-dimensional visual effect that guides the viewer through the soft, outward-reaching fields of color.

Gracie Morton Pwerle's artworks grace major private collections, including the esteemed Holmes à Court Collection, and are frequently exhibited throughout Australia. She has also participated in international exhibitions in China, Germany, Italy, and The Netherlands.

The Story of the Bush Plum Dreaming

Roseanne's artwork emanates from a foundation of traditional knowledge, showcasing her proficient painting approach through the meticulous assembly of bush seed images. The layering of dots characterizes this method to create a dense surface, employing a vivid color palette.

Her subject matter derives from acute observation and memory, reflecting an intimate understanding of the land, interwoven with personal history and ancestral journey.

The Bush Plum Dreaming Story is a significant narrative spanning the western and central deserts, from Lajamanu and Warlpiri country to the Utopia homelands. Originating from the Utopia region, the Dreaming or Creation Story of the Bush Plum recounts the dispersal of bush plum seeds to the artists' ancestral lands by winds during the Dreamtime. The first bush plum of the Dreamings grew, bore fruit, and dispersed its seeds across the lands through the gusts of the winds.

To ensure the perennial fruiting of the bush plum, the Aboriginal people pay homage to its spirit through ceremonial song, dance, and paintings. The patterns in these paintings symbolize the plant's fruit, leaves, flowers, and body paint designs associated with it during ceremonies. The bush plum, a sought-after type of bush tucker, is only available at specific times of the year and is distributed throughout most of the Utopia region and as far west as Lajamanu. However, its abundance has dwindled due to the grazing of introduced animals, especially cattle and rabbits.

Awesome -- they work perfectly
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
Got these to store a DeWalt cordless drill and impact driver on the side of a Gladiator garage cabinet -- and they work perfectly for that. The magnet is incredibly strong, easily supporting the bare tools, and seems even to work perfectly well with an 8ah XR battery on the tool -- not that it's necessary since I don't store them like that. I like that the magnet is padded with rubber. Very nice units, I will get more for sure to store other items.

Incredibly strong magnets and thick, robust hooks. Excellent combination!
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
These magnetic hooks are really strong. Seriously! Each part is made to carry weight and last. The hooks are built out of thick steel stock. They bolt up to large magnets that grab onto steel surfaces and won't let go. The cabinets in my shop are all steel so these worked perfectly on the sides of the lower units. I have a few #12 AWG extension cords that are bulky and heavy. Truthfully, I didn't think these hooks would handle them. They do without any issue. Another application is a 30' long #10/4 AWG SO cable that powers my powder coating oven. It's usually unplugged and wrapped up. It would often end up on the floor where it was constantly in the way. The outside of the oven is all steel but I didn't want to make holes in it for cable hangers. Again, I didn't think that these magnetic hooks could possibly be strong enough to handle the weight of that cable but they do. And once they're attached, it takes a lot of effort to remove them! Amazing performance!! I'm thrilled with these magnetic hooks. They are super strong and, obviously, simple to use. Importantly, they stay in place as they should. I wholeheartedly recommend these hooks to anyone. Great product! Incredibly strong magnets and thick, robust hooks. Excellent combination!

Great for the storm shelter!
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS, Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
In our storm shelter we had some lights that we tried to hang up, multiple times, with no luck! Then I found these garage hooks. They are overkill for the lights, but I’m so happy that we now have lighting in the storm shelter. I could think of so many other uses for these. They strength of the magnets is awesome!

Magnet is super strong but hooks are not adjustable
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS, Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
I ordered this set of Mutuactor magnetic hooks because I was tired of thinking I had things organized and then finding previously hung magnets have slid down the wall. It was a first for me to have to assemble a magnetic hook. This was made slightly more difficult by requiring a wrench. So many items these days arrive with a disposable little hex wrench or whatever is needed for assembly. Not in this case. Maybe the manufacturer assumes if you are spending $15 per magnet to hang your tools you have a wrench handy. Anyway, I got my wrench and found no instructions. I know from life that the order is bolt-washer-lock washer-nut. The next question arose when I found one bolt and several holes... hmmmm. It looks like they wanted to provide the option to screw the hooks directly to the wall. I am not sure the average person would pay that price just for a hook, though. I chose a hole and it seems to be the right one. The good news is I was quickly in business. Soon one magnet was snatched by my husband for his rolling tool cart. He hung his (very heavy) Sawzall and the magnet never moved. He liked the rubber coating that protects his tools. I chose to take advantage of the amazing grip of this thing to hang my most used (and also very heavy) all-clad pan from the side of my fridge. The refrigerator had some sort of glossy powder coat and magnets hold well if you try to pull them straight off but end up sliding down anyway. This is where I came to appreciate the rubber shoe of this magnet. It protects my fridge but I think it plays an essential part in the grip strength of the magnet. I can not slide it around - I need to use two hands to pull it off then place it in another position. To give a magnet strength example I had one magnetic hook on my desk as I was writing this review. My nearby desk-size scotch tape dispenser came sliding over and the magnet grabbed it. I was able to lift the tape dispense just by the magnet grabbing the little piece of metal serrated teeth that cut the tape. There is no other metal in my dispenser. That's it! In summary, four stars because it REALLY grips and holds a lot of weight. Minus a star because I do think they are a little expensive, they required assembly without tools or instructions, and the hooks themselves are not adjustable. I have some similar magnetic hooks and you can move the two prongs apart or together depending on what your tool size is. These prongs are strong and firm and are not moving and this cuts down of the number of uses a little bit.

Develop some quality, worth-while hangups!
Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS, Style: Updated 3.46in Magnet L Red Hooks 2PCS
Organization is key for any shop space. This goes double for smaller shops. If you look around and DON'T see something that could benefit from getting off the floor and onto a peg or hook, I applaud you! For the rest of us, where can we get started? Here you go. These hooks come two in a package. The quality of these are easy to see. The powder coating is very nice as powder coating is more durable than paint. The orange plastic coating on the hooks feels thick and durable. Assembly is easy. There's a threaded post sticking out of the black rubber coated magnet "puck" that you insert into a opening on the hook and secure with washers and a nut. I like that they included both a washer and locking washer. If it matters, I always stack the fastener in the following order: washer, locking washer, then nut. Using a 14mm socket, I was done in no time. How's much will these hooks hold? The magnetic power on these hooks feels substantial. When I slowly approached the side of my metal toolbox, the magnet made an audible snap when it magnetized to the side. It felt strong! The bend at the base of the hook added stability pressing against the toolbox but didn't mark the surface since it was covered by plastic. It held my heavy 50a extension cable and the other hook held both my 25' and 50' pressure washer hoses. Neither moved at all and felt very secure. Whether your shop is your garage or basement, making the most of your space makes a difference and these can help. These are very strong and hold items safely. I'm very happy having these around and will be getting more. If you have a metal surface that you can attach hooks, give these a try. It's a quality solution!
