Sends electric impulses to your left ventricle. Your heart has 4 chambers. The 2 upper chambers are called atria, and the 2 lower chambers are called ventricles. In a healthy heart, the signal to start your heartbeat begins in the upper right chamber of the heart (right atrium). From there, the signal activates the left atrium and travels to the lower chambers (right and left ventricles) of the heart. As the signal travels along the heart's conduction system, it triggers nearby parts of the heart to contract in a coordinated manner. Two bundle branches carry the electrical signal through the ventricles to the bottom of the heart and cause the ventricles to beat. These are termed the right bundle and left bundle.

These are specialized cardiomyocytes that set the rhythm of the heart contractions. They produce roughly 60–100 action potentials every minute. Pacemaker cells spontaneously generate and send out electrical impulses. They also receive and respond to electrical impulses from the brain. Pacemaker cells in the sinoatrial node, and atrioventricular node are smaller and conduct at a relatively slow rate between the cells. Cardiac muscle cells (cardiomyocytes) are striated, branched, contain many mitochondria, and are under involuntary control. Each myocyte contains a single, centrally located nucleus and is surrounded by a cell membrane known as the sarcolemma. Cardiac muscle cells appear striated or striped under a microscope. These stripes occur due to alternating filaments that comprise myosin and actin proteins.

When a cardiac muscle cell contracts, the myosin filament pulls the actin filaments toward each other, which causes the cell to shrink. The cell uses ATP to power this contraction. A single myosin filament connects to two actin filaments on either side. This forms a single unit of muscle tissue, called a sarcomere.

Intercalated discs connect cardiac muscle cells. Gap junctions inside the intercalated discs relay electrical impulses from one cardiac muscle cell to another.

Desmosomes are other connecting structures present within intercalated discs.

Two large veins deliver oxygen-poor blood to your right atrium: the superior vena cava carries blood from your upper body; the inferior vena cava brings blood from the lower body. Then the right atrium pumps the blood to your right ventricle.

I put a banana in the picture next to this massive 10-pound bag for scale, though I wouldn't recommend leaving the fruit out there unless you want to feed the local raccoons instead. The most surprising part of this bag is the smell—it has a very strong, sweet cherry scent right out of the bag that genuinely seems to bring in the local cardinals and blue jays faster than plain seed. THE GOOD: • The cherry flavoring actually works as an attractant, and the sheer volume of seed you get for the price makes this an excellent value for high-traffic yards. • It brings in a huge variety of ground-feeding birds, especially mourning doves and juncos. THE TRADE-OFF: • This is a "value" mix, which means it contains a very high percentage of filler seeds like milo and cracked corn. Finicky songbirds will actively kick the milo out of the hanging feeder to get to the black oil sunflower seeds, creating a massive pile of rejected seed on the ground. THE BOTTOM LINE: A great-smelling, budget-friendly birdseed that attracts a ton of wildlife, provided you don't mind the ground-feeders cleaning up the mess underneath.
