De druiven ranken zijn inmiddels 15 jaar oud en krijgen steeds meer karakter. Dit is voor de wijnmaker ieder jaar weer een uitdaging omdat zowel de planten als de druiven steeds in ontwikkeling zijn. De rijping van de druiven gaat door het warme klimaat in combinatie met de frisse bries die langs de wijngaarden waait gestaag waardoor de druiven perfect kunnen opgroeien. De Cabernet Sauvignon en Merlot druiven worden bij de perfecte rijpheid handmatig geoogst. De familie Aaldering wil enkel de beste trossen in de wijn terecht laten komen dus een zeer strengen selectie is vereist. Na de persing worden zowel de Cabernet Sauvignon wijn als de Merlot wijn gedurende 27 maanden op eikenhouten vaten weggelegd. Pas daarna vind de blend van 60% Cabernet Sauvignon met 40% Merlot plaats. Het resultaat is een elegante klassieke Bordeaux blend uit Zuid-Afrika.De geur en smaak van de rode Cabernet Sauvignon Merlot
Bij het inschenken zijn we meteen aangenaam verrast door de prachtige diep robijnrode kleur met een haast zwarte kern. In de geur een breed boeket van Zwarte bessen, rijp rood fruit, pruimen, pure chocolade en een aangename hint van vanille en zoethout. Dit vertaald zich naar een elegante en toch ook heerlijke volle smaak. Rijke nuances van zwart en rood fruit die perfect in balans worden gebracht met hinten van lichte kruiden, vanille en licht toasted. De afdronk is rond, zacht en intens met een aangename dosis tannines voor een fijne bite. Dit is dan ook een van onze meest favoriete wijnen van Aaldering!Shipping Notes

Not as good as I expected
When it first came, the box fell apart as I was taking it out, and a lot of some kind of dirt or sand kept falling out all over my table and floor. I had the take the entire thing apart and thoroughly wash it.
After drying age reassembling it, I tried it on my portafilter that came with my Breville Barista Express, but, somehow, it doesn't always make the tamping level. You would think with the ridge that rests on the side of the portafilter that it would force it to remain level, but, somehow, it doesn't, at least not consistently. It also has varying lengths (heights, or depths), and a single spring tension, so you may still over tamping or under-tamp. I was expecting it would have a censor that would just detect once it reached 30 lbs of force and cut off after that, similar to a torque screwdriver, but that's not what this is.
I'll still give it 3 stars because, despite the problems mentioned above, it at least produces some amount of consistency, even if that isn't measurable; but, I can't give it 5 stars because of those issues mentioned above.

As an el Supremo Coffee Geek, I've wasted money on lots of different tampers. Save your money and buy this one or it's equivalent. This thing is heavy duty, solid, well-made, self-leveling, tamps at 30 pounds and is fool-proof even for fools. Also, it's a palm tamper meaning more fun and more satisfying to use as you prep the puck for your morning buzz. Buy it. You will thank me.

Super easy to use and takes the guess-work out of getting even pressure on the grounds

I have been using a hand tamper for many years and have a good idea of the pressure I am applying to the grounds in the portafilter. I honestly considered spring tampers to be a bit silly. But this tamper really does take the guess-work out of pressing the coffee grounds. The shroud helps guide the press so that pressure is applied even and flat across the surface. With the manual tamper, there will be some play when pressing, or some unevenness in pressure. This is especially true when cranking out many espressos during a breakfast party with friends. Having the spring tamper makes quick work of turning out a lot of coffees with consistency.
There are no instructions for taking this tamper apart to clean inside, and you may not really need to do that very often. After each use, just pull back the shroud (the black piece that moves up and down) and wipe off the tamper (the shiny steel part). This will help prevent grounds from working their way inside. If you do want to take it apart, it’s easy. Pull back the shroud and unscrew the tamper. It will come apart into three pieces. Wipe the pieces off and reassemble. Super quick and easy.
This tamper is very heavy. My scale shows 656 g (about a pound and a half). It fits the portafilter exactly, with no slop. Just place on top of grounds and press!. Don’t even worry about pressure, just push down all the way. Overall I had fun using this tamper versus my manual one. And since I make myself a cappuccino very early in the morning, I don’t have to be very awake to get a good pack on the grounds and get my coffee fast!

Quality and Function
Looks like a silly little thing, I am not a coffee enthusiast. But it does exactly what it is supposed to do and with high quality. The device (a stretch to call it that) is made of sturdy materials including the needles. They give you two different thicknesses of needles, one for expressi (0.3) and one set for coffee grinds (0.4). Each comes wth some spares. The stand is well designed and keeps grinds from spreading all over. It is very elegant design. I use this with a dosing funnel on my portafilter. Not the cheapest one could buy but well worth the money.
