Formation & Characteristics

Smoky quartz color results from natural radiation in surrounding rock activating color centers around aluminum impurities within the quartz lattice. The specimens formed as freeform crystals with varied facet geometry, showing a smoky range of tones and occasional inclusions typical of quartz. Outer surfaces may display natural cavities and minor surface irregularities inherent to hand-formed natural crystals.
