Launched in 2008, Octomore is Bruichladdich’s annual experiment in pushing whisky to extremes. Towering peat levels, near‑cask‑strength bottling, and only five years old, yet surprisingly elegant. The distillery calls it “The Impossible Equation”: too young, too strong, too peaty… and yet it works.

Using the same spirit as 16.1, Octomore 16.2 explores the influence of rich European wine casks. Aged in a combination of Oloroso & Bordeaux, finished in Madeira & Moscatel.
This is the most decadent of the trio: caramelised sugar, roasted nuts, dried fruits, and sweet smoke, with layers of citrus, oxidised wine, and dark chocolate emerging as it opens. It’s the first time this cask combination has been used in Octomore, making it a standout for lovers of bold, wine‑forward whiskies.
