The Whittet-Higgins KMS series is a metric bearing locknut machined from corrosion-resistant stainless steel for service in corrosive, washdown, and chemically aggressive environments. It threads onto the shaft and works together with a matched MBS series lockwasher, whose tabs engage the nut to lock it in place while providing accurate angular positioning across numerous locking positions.
This arrangement secures, locks, and retains bearings and power transmission assemblies, preventing loosening due to vibration, shock, and torque without requiring any special installation tools. The KMS line is effective on both soft and hardened shafts, is rated to a maximum operating temperature of 300°F, and meets and exceeds ISO 2982-2:2013(E). It is manufactured in the USA and is RoHS compliant.
