Jim Brown joined Southampton County Borough Police in 1952 and served as a beat officer, police motor-cyclist, detective, and one of the first scenes of crime officers. This is a story about crime fighting in a bygone age.

He has given an accurate factual account, warts and all, of how Southampton was policed in the 1950/60s. The behaviour of officers in this period, both supervising and subordinate, reflected the age.

It was a different post-war world with vastly differing standards. Modern officers do not behave in this way; they are governed by different criteria and Jim’s account makes this clear.

The reader will appreciate the strengths of the old fashioned policing methods, as well as the weaknesses, and be surprised at the vast differences. Eg. Serving officers will be staggered by the absence of technology

Zero tolerance was the norm and the protection of the law-abiding public the overriding concern of every officer, but their behaviour when carrying this out would often be completely unacceptable today.

Good
Color: Grey
Works as it should, but one of the brackets on the leg broke while setting up. Super glue is holding it in just fine.

Not good for putting away daily
Color: Grey
This product may work of you are doing a full install, but is terrible for putting up and taking down daily. I have only had it 2 months and it is falling apart and will not stand straight.

Privacy at ease!
Color: Black, Color: Black
This is exactly what we needed for our large house and bedroom sharing with the kids. People need privacy and this can be tucked away when it isn't being used. Perfect!

Easy to put together
Color: Black, Color: Black
I was pleasantly surprised by how well this room divider is designed. The engineering behind it is actually pretty thoughtful. All the pieces line up exactly where you expect them to, and the connectors make assembly almost foolproof. I had it put together in just a few minutes without any frustration or extra tools. The fabric panels look clean and modern, and the whole unit is surprisingly lightweight. That makes it easy to move around if you want to reconfigure a room or create a quick private space. Even though it’s light, it still feels stable once it’s assembled. Overall it’s a simple product done right: easy to assemble, easy to move, and it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. I’d definitely buy it again.
