Oriented multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWCNTs) indicate that during the growth or treatment of MWCNTS, the direction of each layer of the tube wall shows a certain regularity, that is, it has obvious orientation. Multi-walled carbon nanotubes are composed of several concentric carbon nanotubes, each of which has a different diameter and a very complex relationship with each other. In contrast, oriented multi-walled carbon nanotubes (MWNTS) have a certain regularity in the orientation of their walls. The directional regularity of each layer wall is obvious, which is the most remarkable feature of oriented multi-walled carbon nanotubes.

Because of their special orientation, oriented multi-walled carbon nanotubes usually have a high electron migration rate. Orientation also gives them excellent hydrodynamic properties. The preparation of oriented multi-walled carbon nanotubes usually involves the precise control of growth conditions and the introduction of an external field. By adjusting the catalyst type, concentration, reaction temperature, gas flow rate and other parameters, the chemical vapor deposition (CVD) method can control the growth direction of carbon nanotubes, so as to prepare oriented multi-wall carbon nanotubes.
