Six Questions Your Kona Ice Franchise Financial Model Must Answer

7

We built this franchise unit financial model using our own research to provide a comprehensive franchise unit financial feasibility study. Key assumptions, including the mobile food franchise revenue model and $205,000 in startup costs, are pre-populated with researched data and are fully editable. This tool helps you move from a basic franchise business plan template to a precise, data-driven operating plan.

8

What is the profitability trajectory?

You can expect to hit positive EBITDA quickly, with year one showing $55,000 in earnings despite the ramp-up phase. By year five, the model projects EBITDA climbing to $261,000 as you optimize route density and event contracts, even after accounting for the 6% royalty and 1.5% packaging costs.

Boost Unit Margins

  • Maximize high-margin event vending
  • Tighten syrup waste controls
  • Optimize seasonal labor scheduling
[dynamic_pic9]
9

How much capital is required and how is it allocated?

Launching this unit requires a total initial investment of $205,000 to get the vehicle on the road and fully equipped. This franchise investment analysis covers the $15,000 franchise fee and the $125,000 primary entertainment vehicle, plus essential gear like the $22,000 flavor station and $18,000 in shaving tools.

Primary Capital Uses

  • Entertainment Vehicle: $125,000
  • Flavorwave Station: $22,000
  • Ice Shavers and Tools: $18,000
  • Initial Franchise Fee: $15,000
[dynamic_pic10]
10

What is the return on investment?

The franchise ROI calculation shows a 5-year payback period and an internal rate of return (IRR) of 2.19%. While the initial ROE is 0.34, the long-tail value lies in the steady revenue growth from $293,000 to $767,000, making this a stable cash-flow play for long-term operators.

Key Investment Metrics

  • 5-year payback period
  • 2.19% Internal Rate of Return
  • 0.34 Return on Equity
[dynamic_pic11]
11

What is the break-even point?

The model projects a fast break-even date of March 2026, just 3 months after the initial launch. Reaching this point depends heavily on hitting your retail sales targets and managing fixed costs like the $1,700 combined monthly insurance and storage fees.

Accelerate Break-Even

  • Secure pre-launch event contracts
  • Minimize initial inventory waste
  • Use owner-operator labor early
[dynamic_pic12]
12

What is the cash runway and lowest cash point?

Your lowest cash point is defintely projected for December 2028, with a minimum cash balance of $968,000 including accumulated reserves. Using the best financial planning tools for franchise owners, you can see that while the runway is resilient, you still need a buffer for vehicle maintenance and seasonal dips.

Protect Your Cash

  • Phase non-essential equipment buys
  • Negotiate fuel volume discounts
  • Maintain vehicle maintenance fund
[dynamic_pic13]
13

How do Low, Medium, and High scenarios change the outcome?

Comparing Low vs Medium vs High scenarios shows how sensitive your franchise unit economics are to volume. A 10% drop in sales can delay your payback, while the high scenario demonstrates how to project revenue for a mobile shaved ice business when hitting peak tournament capacity and maximizing throughput.

Target the High Case

  • Increase average ticket size
  • Boost repeat event bookings
  • Improve crew hourly productivity

Comfy and Warm
Size: Women 6.5-7.5, Color: Raisin
I'm very happy with these Original Slipper Socks. I normally wear a 6 1/2, so got these in XS/6 1/2-7 1/2. They are a little long on my feet, but they'll do. I'd rather have them be a little long than a little short, and perfectly sized slippers seem almost impossible to find these days. These slipper socks have a nice, comfy wide toe box, and the cushioned sole is soft, warm, and comfy. The suede on the bottom of the sole make these quiet and very comfy to wear around the house. The wool sock uppers are not itchy, but as comfy as a pair of warm socks.

Perfect for cool weather ...
Size: 12.5-13.5 Women/10.5-11.5 Men, Color: Light Grey Ragg Wool
I see a lot of complaints about fit and outdoor use of these ... I mean, these are slipper socks for indoor use! These are not shoes! If you want to walk outside in the snow, put on shoes or boots and then go outside ... I have two pair of these and they are great! I really like the real leather soles and foam insole, instead of the cheap plastic soles that are sold on most house shoes ... They were a little tight on my ankles when new, but they relaxed a bit and fit perfectly now. These are perfect for letting the TV watch you, sauntering, meandering, posing, consuming hot beverages, midnight strolls through the house, napping and all sorts of other indoor inactivity ... It has been a few years, and I must say, my Acorn's are still working strong. It is about 60 degrees inside, and I'm working in the garage on a cold concrete slab. The red stripes look especially special with my Adidas sweat pants.

Cozy but...
Size: Medium, Color: Light Grey Cotton Twist, Size: Medium, Color: Light Grey Cotton Twist
These slipper socks are nice but could be nicer. The sock portion does Not have a heel; they are tube socks with a footpad sewn on. This means there is a little tightness getting your foot past the turn and then you end up with a roll of sock over your upper foot. Once that is all made comfortable, you are good to go. I wear mine indoors and out for short trips to the patio and backyard. The sole material looks to be durable enough to last more than one season with this type of use. The footbed itself has just the right amount of padding: not so much that the foot can slid to the side and not so thin you can feel the joints in a tile floor ;-)

Size down. Thin soles are cold.
Size: Small, Color: Light Grey Ragg Wool
The ragg wool is warm and they seem well made. The foot sizing is very long. I'm a 7.5 to 8 always. The choice was 6-7 or 8-9. The 8-9 is more than 2 inches too long. I'm afraid they will cause a fall. Also know that the cushioning is not as pictured. It is only half the depth of the leather sides. When you stand on anything but carpets, you feel the cold floor. This is all due to the gravity on earth.

Best slippers, beware Sizes may be off.
Size: Medium, Color: Charcoal Ragg Wool
I LOVE these sock moccasins shoes or whatever they are. I purchased 2 pair in different colors and the upper sock material was a significantly different material in its weave density and stretchyness. (blue more thin and stretchy than grey). I wear blue ones indoors, and the grey ones stay in the car for long car trips. Sizing: both pair I bought say 7-9mens 9-10women -- In how they actually fit they are 9-10 mens. The soles are leather with a thin bit of soft foam, in winter I can walk around in snow in them and the cold doesnt get through. Not that you should walk in snow with them since the leather is like a suede so it gets gross. You can put them through the washing machine and it makes them look good as new.
