In the early seventies, King Crimson, Yes, Jethro Tull, Emerson, Lake and Palmer, and many others brought forth a series of adventurous and visionary works, often of epic length. Responding both to the new possibilities in rock music opened up by "Sergeant Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band", as well as to the countercultural politics and aesthetics of the late sixties, these musicians applied consummate instrumental and compositional skill to transgressing boundaries. Since the late seventies, histories of rock music have either ignored or marginalized the progressive rock era. In part, this has occurred because rock music criticism has taken an almost completely sociological turn, with little or no interest in musical form itself. In "Listening to the Future", Bill Martin argues that it is a musical and political mistake to ignore this period of tremendous creativity, a period which still finds resonance in rock music today. He sets the scene for the emergence of progressive rock (showing that, in fact, there has always been a progressive trend in rock music, a trend that took a quantum leap in the late sixties), and develops a terminology for understanding how an avant-garde could arise out of the sonic and social materials of

Great Power Strip for Electronics and Everyday Use
Size: 6 Ft, Color: Black
I’m using this Yintar 6ft power strip behind my couch, and it’s been working out great so far. I have my electric couch plugged in, along with a heating blanket, a Google Nest, and I’ll plug my laptop in on occasion too. It handles everything without any issues. The six outlets give me plenty of room, and the USB ports are nice to have so I’m not constantly swapping chargers. The 6-foot cord is a little longer than I really need for this spot, but that’s what I ordered, so no complaints there. It actually makes it easier to tuck everything neatly behind the couch without cords being stretched. The power strip feels solid and well made, not flimsy, and I like knowing it has surge protection for the electronics I have plugged into it. Overall, it does exactly what it’s supposed to do. Simple, clean, and useful for everyday home use. I’d buy it again.

Quality surge protector
Size: 6 Ft, Color: Black
It’s a surge protector that works well. I just needed a simple, small, and relatively flat outlets to bring power to my daughter’s bike trainer. This provides enough outlets to power the trainer, a fan and a iPad charger.

Solid surge protector, but some outlets are a tight fit
Size: 6 Ft, Color: Black
For the price, this power strip covers all the bases — 6 outlets, 3 USB ports, and a generous 6ft cord that reaches exactly where you need it without having to rearrange furniture. The surge protection at 1680 joules gives me peace of mind having it near my electronics, and the ETL listing confirms it meets safety standards which is always reassuring with electrical products. The USB ports are a nice bonus and charge my devices at a decent speed. My main gripe is that some of the AC outlet slots are noticeably stiff and tight, making it genuinely difficult to plug certain things in — I had to use a bit more force than I was comfortable with on a couple of them. It loosens up slightly with use but out of the box it was more of a struggle than it should be. Not a dealbreaker but something worth knowing especially if you're plugging in bulkier adapters. Overall a good functional surge protector for a home office or dorm room setup at a very reasonable price
