Double LP + CD version. Three years have passed since the release of Polyester's debut album Earthly Powers (PERMVAC 079 CD/LP). The international press celebrated Polyester as an exciting mixture of Les Rita Mitsouki, cosmic and Kraut rock, and declared them top-notch disco punk newcomers. Several tours in the U.S., Japan and Europe followed as a logical consequence and even Franz Ferdinand's Alex Kapranos and Mr. James Murphy himself quickly became fans of the quartet, which is now reloading with full force on it's Disko B/Schamoni Musik premiere. "The City of Orion," a reproduction of this mystical heavenly body, recreated by man in the Moroccan desert, has been a long-time yearning place for Polly and her three band members and became the major inspiration for the album title. Many of the new songs circulate around the theme of solitude in all it's facets, but everyone who is now thinking of a barely accessible concept album is dead wrong, because also in 2014 the band sparkles in a fountain of unbound punk/new wave/disco energy: This is where early Talking Heads hangs around on a DFA bloc party while Tom Tom Club is jamming with Le Tigre in the background. The opener "Cut Diamond" addresses that special second in which you realize a related chemical composition in your counterpart, and the two instrumentals "City of Orion I & II" are desert music +á la Polyester - the soundtrack for the band's not-yet-realized trip to the origin of their longing. "In My Boots" is Polly's advice for all matters of life: Stay strong in rugged boots - cowgirls stroll easier. Polyester also have one eye on the dancefloor as well, to be verified in "Catrina," a song which is dedicated to the protective patroness of the Day of the Dead in Mexico: A marvelous cold fusion of Italo pop, high energy and '80s funk - surely not the only club hit on this record. City of O. is a brightly glistening album, yet it emanates tranquility and sovereignty at the same time. The best of both worlds in the most beautiful sense of pop.

This book was a game changer for me…
Format: Paperback
I’ve attempted college twice. On my first attempt I ended up with a 1.8 GPA which resulted in academic probation and a fair amount of tears. I took an almost ten year long hiatus thinking college wasn’t for me before trying again. Except this second time I knew I had to do something different, and that’s when I picked up this book. On my second attempt I ended up with a 3.9 GPA upon graduation and also felt I didn’t have to work myself to the bone to get those grades. I found the chapters on note taking and time management to be particularly useful. While it’s true that my success also had to do with some maturity I had gained over ten years, this book gave me the tools and a system that helped me immensely. It not only helped me academically, but taught me how to “work smarter, not harder.” In short, get the book. You won’t regret spending the money on it.

Another fun wlw paranormal romance from this author
Format: Kindle
Another fun wlw urban fantasy, shifter romance. This time we get to know Heather from the first book better along with her fated mate, V. It was nice to have some enby rep in this genre. Always want to see more people represented in characters that I read. Unfortunately the transphobia that was represented was pretty realistic as well. Good to see some familiar faces as well with Wren and Natalie as well as Rias popping up.
The romance between Heather and V is instalove, as it is a fated mates situation. However, Heather has a lot of internal demons to battle. I really felt like her struggles were pretty indicative of someone who has experienced trauma from abuse and neglect. Seeing her internal dialogue go back and forth, knowing that she was self-sabotaging, felt very real. Thankfully, V sees her strength hiding behind her struggles and just falls more in love with her.
There is no third act breakup. Not really. There is a point where Heather pushes V away, but she is ready to go back to them and work through her struggles when werewolf drama ensues. The ending, seeing Wren's pack grow is great. And there is obvious plotlines introduced at the very end for any upcoming books.

enjoyable werewolf story
Format: Kindle
It's Heather's turn to be in the spotlight this time, with new character V, in a story that covers mental health, acceptance, and of course finding true love. Finding your true mate can be a wonderful experience, as well as claiming each other, but what follows after can be a challenging experience, especially when other factors in life decide to interfere.
Like Pack of Her Own, there is a lot of action in this story, along with lots of cute moments, and Heather and V make a wonderful pair, even with their insecurities. Seeing them stand up for each other is just great as well. Of course seeing Wren and Natalie again was an added bonus, and if there is a third book I'd love to see all of the characters again as well.
Mate of Her Own is a highly enjoyable story, engaging and engrossing, and I loved the tale it told. It was good seeing certain aspects of toxic wolf culture being called out, and Wren doing her best to create a pack that doesn't adhere to the norms (especially considering that she didn't want her own pack, but well, with the ending of the previous book, she doesn't have a lot of choice). It is a great shifter tale, and I do hope to see more in this series.
