David Akers (1975/88): The 1850 is a scarce, but not a rare date. A fair number of VF and EF examples are around but AU specimens are rare and mint state ones are very rare. I have seen only three uncirculated examples and my notes indicate that they were all just average, bagmarked uncirculated specimens, not at all choice. Gordon Wrubel: The flag stand of the 5 comes to a very sharp point that is rather close to the ball and in line with its left edge. The point of the 1 LINES UP with the point of the bust and its tip is CLOSE to the truncation. The Small Date utilizes a smaller logotype intended for the $5. denomination. The point of the 1 is well right of the point of bust and its tip is about 3X times more distant from the truncation than the Large Date 1. The flag stand of the 5 rather blunt and nearly touches the ball giving it a "closed" appearance. The Large Date is scarce but about 2 1/2 time more common than the Small Date. Both varieties are rare in Mint State. Not even a whisper of a Gem has been heard.

An 1850 Large Date Ten Dollar Eagle from the Philadelphia Mint. This Pre-Civil War coin has been certified, encapsulated and graded About Uncirculated details, by NGC, a top service. This Coronet Head portrait example has been cleaned at some time in its 166 year old history. In spite of the cleaning, the coin has Nice Gold color with some brightness and not the dull dark color of some cleaned coins. The coin has light abrasion and contact marks and is well struck. This No Motto Ten Lib is one of a small number of survivors from a low mintage issue of America's Primary Gold coin; The Eagle. Although the Large Date is the more numerous of the two varieties, it is by no means common. A Nice example of a collectors coin, that would complement any high grade collection of early Liberty Head Eagles.

Great item
I have several of these for my German Shepherd and Hound dog. While the Shepherd can still manage to get this apart it takes a lot longer than other chew toys.

Would not recommend
I bought this for my bulldog/boxer dog thinking that it was completely made of leather but it’s not. It has an inch of felt type material between two very thin leather pieces which makes it easy for her to chew on, becoming soft very quickly and then falls apart. We took it away from the dog the first day and threw it away because we didn’t want her swallowing felt type material.
