Located in the village of Claret in Hérault (Languedoc), Villeneuve's estate covers 50 ha of vines, most of which are classified as AOC Pic St-Loup.
Anne-Lise Fraisse, together with her beekeeper husband and children, today offers a wide range of wines that combine tradition and modernity, made from grapes grown with respect for the environment and in symbiosis with the scrublands and forests that characterise the region.

Le Chant des Roches is made, like the Sorbière (another Pic St Loup red wines from Villeneuve estate which we have offered in our 2 previous selections) of hand-harvested Syrah, Mourvèdre, and Grenache grapes. 

The main differences with the Sorbière is that in Le Chant des Roches the Syrah grapes are vinified using carbonic maceration, and the wine is aged in new 225L French oak for 24 months, thus extracting less bitter tannins from the Syrah grapes but more fragrant tannins from the barrels. This results in a slightly more sophisticated structure than in the Sorbière while requiring a bit more aging to integrate smoothly the oak aromas. This 2021 vintage is now just ready to be drunk while still having great aging potential.

Le Chant des Roches is a superb high quality red wine which firm palate structured by light, dense and long tannins will sublimate your red meat in sauce dishes. With its spicy aromas of anise, mint, nutmeg and cinnamon it can also offer an interesting pairing with chocolate desserts.
