Distribution

Endemic to the isolated mountain lake of Inlé and associated watershed in Shan State, eastern Myanmar.

Type locality is ‘Inlé Lake, Southern Shan States, Myanmar’.

The species is currently listed as ‘Endangered’ on the IUCN Red List due to a significant decline in the wild population. Unsustainable agricultural practices in and around the lake have caused increases in sedimentation, eutrophication, and pollution along with a reduction in surface area of more than 30% between the years 1935-2000. Non-native, predatory Parambassis and Tilapia species have been introduced for farming, while collection for the aquarium trade may also be exerting a negative effect.

Habitat

Lake Inlé lies in a karstic valley almost 900m above sea level in the Shan Plateau region and is home to many endemic animals including nine species of fish and numerous gastropods. The water is clear, shallow (2-3 metres deep in most places) and has a very fertile, loamy substrate, although it can be muddy and turbid around the margins.

It is famed for its stilted villages and local fishermen known as Intha who row their boats using only one leg. These people, thought to have migrated from the south of Myanmar in the late 1300s, use naturally-occurring floating ‘islands’ consisting of tangles of various plant species as gardens.

These islands form a wide raft around the lake margins, rising and falling with the water level, and have come to form the habitats of many fishes which take shelter among the tangle of roots and plant stems at their base. Macrophytes also grow densely in places.

S. resplendens occurs throughout the lake, in both clear and turbid water, but is mostly collected around the vegetated margins.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Easy to use and produces vibrant prints
This Hiipoo sublimation ink has been a fantastic upgrade for my EcoTank printer. The autofill bottles fit perfectly into the ink tanks - no syringes, no mess, and no wasted ink. Refilling is quick and hassle-free, which makes the whole process so much easier. The print quality is excellent. Colors come out bright, vivid, and crisp with great saturation and no fading. It transfers beautifully onto mugs, T-shirts, and tumblers, drying fast without smudges. I really appreciate that it works ICC-free, yet still delivers professional results. The ink is certified and feels reliable, and I’ve had zero clogging issues. Overall, this is a high-quality, easy-to-use sublimation ink that’s perfect for both hobby projects and small business use. Definitely recommend for anyone doing heat transfer printing.

Only Sublimation Ink for Me!!
I recently bought my second set of Hippo Sublimation Ink and continue to be thrilled with the results. This ink has proven to be a fantastic choice for my sublimation projects, delivering on all fronts. Hippo Sublimation Ink works exactly as promised. It sublimates effortlessly onto poly blend items, producing bright, vivid transfers every time. The colors are striking and true to the design, which is crucial for quality sublimation work. The results are consistently impressive, making this ink a reliable option for any project. One of the standout features is the great price. Hippo Sublimation Ink offers excellent value for money compared to other brands. Despite its affordability, it performs just as well—if not better—than more expensive options on the market. Using Hippo Ink in my Epson printer has been a breeze. The ink flows smoothly and doesn’t clog the printer, even after not being used for two weeks!!! I’ve had issues with other brands clogging my printer, leading to frustration and wasted time, not to mention all the maintenance puts wear and tear on the printer. With Hippo, there’s been no such problem, making it a hassle-free choice for sublimation printing. Hippo Sublimation Ink has exceeded my expectations in terms of performance, price, and ease of use. It’s the only ink I will use in my printer from now on. If you’re looking for a high-quality sublimation ink that’s both affordable and reliable, Hippo is an excellent choice. It delivers bright, beautiful transfers and maintains smooth operation without any of the typical issues associated with other brands. Highly recommended!
