Dr. Chung Shik Yong has been kicked out of seven countries as a Unification missionary. As former overseas missionaries ourselves, Maria and I were kicked out of only one mission country, but that was such a soul-wrenching, life-altering experience that we cannot fathom seven such experiences!

At True ParentsÕ behest, for the past 33 years Dr. Yong has served as a missionary in Malaysia, Singapore, Dominica, Japan, Thailand, Cambodia, the Philippines, the United States and other countries sharing and interpreting True ParentsÕ words, offering spiritual guidance, reminiscing about the wisdom of his spiritual father, Yo Han Lee, and shedding many tears with imprisoned and persecuted members Ð and with all of us. Wherever heaven has led him, he has slept little and offered ÒJeongseongÓ or devotion to heaven at 3 a.m. and morning devotion to brothers and sisters at 6 a.m. every day without interruption. Neither travel Ð nor even covid Ð has stopped him. He only eats two meals a day and sleeps little, but takes care of his body, exercising daily Ð which he encourages us all to do as well. In sum, he walks the talk and seriously models True ParentsÕ lifestyle. He is, indeed, a missionaryÕs missionary.

Dr. Yong's deep dives into the words of True Parents and of the Bible have uncovered myriad nuggets of truth and heart that are easily missed in normal Hoondok Hae reading. As a result, his heartfelt sharing has touched the hearts of thousands in North America and beyond on Zoom, YouTube and Facebook. Apropos, the leader of the FFWPU West Africa region, Rev. George Ogurie, has reported that over 1,500 families in his region watched videos of Dr. Yong's Morning Devotion in English and French every day.
