We've all felt the giddy flutter of excitement when our new lover walks into the room. Waited by the phone, changed our plans...But are we in love, or is there something darker at work? In Desire: Where Sex Meets Addiction, Susan Cheever explores the shifting boundaries between the feelings of passion and addiction, desire and need, and she raises provocative and important questions about who we love and why. Elegantly written and thoughtfully composed, Cheever's book combines unsparing and intimate memoir, interviews and stories, hard science and psychology to explore the difference between falling in love and falling prey to an addiction. Part one defines what addiction is and how it works -- the obsession, the betrayals, the broken promises to oneself and others. Part two explores the possible causes of addiction -- is it nature or nurture, a permanent condition or a temporary derangement? Part three considers what we can do about it, including a provocative suggestion about how we describe and treat addiction, and a look at the importance of community and storytelling. In the end, there are no easy answers. A straight look about some crooked feelings, Desire shows us the difference between the addiction that cripples our emotions, and healthy, empowering love that enhances our lives.Binding Type: Paperback

Hybrid polo shirt -- very comfortable
This seems to be a kind of "go anywhere, do anything" shirt that almost succeeds on every count. The fabric is quite thin and very stretchy--the same kind of fabric as a lightweight workout shirt. Definitely not a pique knit polo, or even a sturdy t-shirt knit. The collar is fabric, not ribbed. The quality of construction seems good.
The fit is generous. I'm 6'1", 185 lbs, 33" waist and 42R jacket, and this shirt I'm wearing is a Medium. It's still quite loose all over. Could've even perhaps gone with a Small, certainly with this amount of stretch in the material, and it still wouldn't have hugged the body.
This shirt design is most comfortable on me with only the top button undone. It can be worn with the top button done up (see pic) but the collar does tend to fold a bit when you wear it like that. The collar fabric isn't quite firm enough to hold its shape. Two buttons undone (see the other pic) is also an option, and that makes for a pretty wide collar. The shirt body is definitely long enough to wear tucked in for the golf course or office, but not so long (on me, at least) that it can't be left untucked for less formal occasions.
And it must be a "luxury" shirt because the tape on the outside of the plastic box says so!

Excellent value, not too short
My husband is 5'11" and 200 pounds and typically wears a Large or X-Large (leaning more toward X-Large for waist, upper arms, and length). Based on the size chart, we got this in 2XL, and it fits perfectly. He has a long torso and likes to tuck in this style shirt, so length is often an issue, but not with this shirt. It is just the right length. It fits well around his chest, waist, and arms, too - just the right amount of looseness without looking sloppy. The fabric is not cotton; it is that sport material. It's just okay. We got the black, and it is like a heathered black or a super dark heathered gray. It almost looks like it has little metallic flecks in the photos, but in person, it doesn't look that way. Don't worry about it being flashy!
He would never usually wear a 2XL, so I would say these run small and to size up 1-2 from your usual size. Most of all, though, follow the provided size chart.
