Sometimes one knows it's coming, sometimes it's unexpected, but the time to hang up one's boots will always come. It's better when one has total control over the moment, even better if things end on a high (or on a low). After seven years of sonic interferences, calibrating the soundscape of field recordings and helping to recreate the old sounds of today, Gonzo is retiring from music. It's a goodbye, and a well-crafted one at that. But Ruído(s) doesn't sound like an intentional farewell. It won't be heard on any of the thirteen tracks that scavenge for a solution in the space between ambient music and field recordings. It won't be felt in the intense connection between human and natural sounds; how sometimes everything oscillates in opposite states of mind. One won't even read it in the intense-yet-subtle humor present in some of the pieces. This is all because it's not an intentional goodbye. What is it then? It's a celebration of random sound. How can one experience something scholastic and simultaneously deeply hilarious? Just think about the amazing triad formed by "A Fuga Dos Grilos." "Degredado(s)," and "Cantiga Parva". First, one is blessed with six minutes that build up on the idea that sound can be an intense religious experience, echoes going back and forth to create a fantastic Boiler Room feeling (one populated with raving Gonzo's doing dabs in front of the camera) that eventually ends with a cinematic touch - someone saying the title of the song out loud. One second after we are into the Flying Lizards world, with two songs that shake any pretentious seriousness of the previous track. Is it serious or not? It is. But it doesn't have to be. On Ruído(s) Gonzo recounts pop/electronic history through field recordings and weird-soft beats. More than compiling his seven-year history, Gonzo is more worried about understanding where he's leaving his ideas, Caretaker-style. As the album progresses and the need to revisit it grows, it becomes clearer that Ruído(s) is more than an artist self-indulging in his work - in a very good manner. It's also a condensed catalog of Portuguese music and it's sounds, a circular trip down the memory lane of a forgotten country and it's landscape. Ruído(s) is a goodbye to a country and it's traditions. It does it without sulking but with the most respectful loud laugh - the Gonzo way.

my new favorite book
Format: Kindle
Ok so I never write reviews but this book was so good I felt the need to write this. Firstly your introduced to Huntyr you see her closed off hard core badass than towards the end you see the most subtle change and growth it’s amazing and the enemies to friends to lovers was just perfect, AND THE TWIST AT THE END GOT ME GOOD! You see one spicy scene the whole book but it doesn’t even MATTER BECAUSE THE BOOK WAS THAT GOOD. I’ve read 85 books in 2023-2024 so far and I’m pround to say this is my all time favorite. I’m so excited to read more of Emily Blackwoods books, this was my first time reading one of hers and I’m glad I did because HOLY!! Well done Emily well done

Fast paced romantasy you will not want to put down!
Format: Kindle
4.25 stars! I LOVED this book with similar vibes to Hush Hush, Fourth Wing, and The Serpent and the Wings of Night! It was fast paced with easy world building and will keep you turning the pages late into the night because you will not want to put it down! Huntyr is a fierce bad@ss FMC trained to kill vampyres her entire life. She is sent on a mission to go to the academy and earn her spot into The Golden City. Upon arrival, she is forced to room with the delicious fallen angel, Wolf, who is the only one who knows about her assassin identity. The romance, the plot twists, the secrets revealed, the battles, and the tantalizing training scenes had me hooked! And that ending…. I’m holding my breath in need to know hell! Read if you love: 🪽 Fae, Vampyres, Fallen Angels 🪽 Academy setting with magical trials 🪽 Forced proximity and slow burn 🪽 Rivals to lovers 🪽 Hidden identities and secrets 🪽 Tend your wounds “𝘖𝘧 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘳𝘴𝘦 𝘐 𝘸𝘢𝘴 𝘸𝘢𝘵𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘺𝘰𝘶. Excellent Rivals to Lovers!!
Format: Kindle
The tension and banter between Huntyr and Wold was delectable. I absolutely love the fallen angel and all of his flaws. Huntyr is amazing too being a badass FMC with some major trauma. The world building was great and I enjoyed the training aspect of the story. The writing was immersive and was in the story the whole time. The ending had quite a twist that I hadn’t anticipated and made my jaw DROP. Excellent job! I also loved the narration. Laura is one of my fave narrators!

Great start to the series! Loved it!
Format: Kindle
I really liked this story! It pulled me in from beginning to end and was engaging. I started to feel for the characters very early on, especially Effie and Julian. I loved how Julian knew right away that Effie was his mate and that meant for his whole bonded pack. For Effie, she didn't realize it meant that Julian was her mate but she felt at home with him, something she hasn't really felt very much at all. I love that we get so many details within this story as things do happen in a short span of time but it doesn't feel rushed or like things happen on fast forward due to that level of detail that we get. It doesn't get bogged down either. I love how Effie has that instant connection with all of her mates, she doesn't fully understand it but she feels it and is going with it. Her mates are very protective of her and she feels safe and at home with them, a feeling that she really has felt as long as she can remember, since she doesn't remember but for the last few years. I loved seeing her build her relationships with her mates as a whole and individually as well. I love how she doesn't just count anything out with any of her mates, even seeing the tension between some of them. She feels comfortable with them and is working on finding her place and becoming more confident in that with each other them. She also has lots of questions regarding the university and how she got there but she also wants to learn and figure things out. I really enjoyed this one and it ends on a slight cliffhanger and I definitely want and need the next one as I am fully engaged and hooked with the characters and want to see them find their happy ending.

Effie girl
Format: Kindle
I really enjoyed this intro into a new shifter world. This is a university setting RH shifter book. We have 5 alpha males (4 wolves and 1 non wolf) all with their own problems but they all are instantly possessive and attentive towards our FMC Effie. This book takes place in the span of 3 days where a lot happens. I have a lot of thoughts. I really liked it yet I was also really frustrated at times with it. So here we go Pros: The 4 MC’s Tore, Dakota, Caedmon, and Julian are instantly possessive and all about Effie our FMC. I love this because lately all I’ve been seeing is the rejected mate story line and this is definitely NOT that. I love books where the alphas don’t have to be jerks and reject their women which ours don’t do. The men our all relatable in trying to work through some of there own issues while still caring and being attentive to Effie. They aren’t perfect knights in shinning armor but it’s clear they try hard to make her feel special and important to them. The writing is flawless and it was incredibly easy to continue reading (literally finished this book in one sitting) Cons: There was so much more inner monologue than actually dialogue between characters. Usually I don’t mine this but while reading it (on my kindle) the monologue had like 4 whole pages in between two sentences of dialogue here and there. It was just irritating not getting much actually conversation. (I was I think 12% in to this book before there was an actually dialogue. It was all Effies internal monologue or flash backs) The world building left a bit to be desired because I still have tons of questions mainly about the types of wolves but I understand this is part of the naivety store line but still This whole book takes place in the span of three days. No big ah ha action packed moments happened until the very last chapter. A lot of it was build up for the next 4 books I’m sure but it’s still frustrating because coming out of it I still feel like I know relatively nothing about this world. Each guy is a different species of wolf get we know nothing about any of them other than Fenrir wolves can’t shift. - 4.5 stars because I definitely will pick up the second book. Book 1 ended in a cliff hanger so I’m eager to see what happens. I hope we get a bit longer storyline though and allow it time to develop so we get more information over all. This is a good book and I definitely recommend giving it a try. It’s a good start to a new series.
