Peal & Co (Peal and Company Limited) manufactured English shoes from 1565 until 1965. The once successful British firm catered to a variety of notable individuals and moved locations several times over the years before it was purchased by Foster & Sons. Brooks Brothers uses the marque today for boots and shoes manufactured in England, typically Northampton, and sold in their stores.
Nota Bene: Although Peal & Co traces its founding back to 1565, according to documents from the London Metropolitan Archives, the company name does not appear until 1791 . The company describes its history as "the oldest-established and most successful makers in the world" when it existed in Durham and Derby, before it moved to London in 1791. Brooks Brothers purchased the name in 1965 and used it for its premium line of shoes.
Peal & Co existed as an unnamed English bootmaker from 1565 until 1761 when the company moved to Durham. The named founder, Samuel Peal, moved his cordwaining manufacturing operation from Derby to London in 1791 and named the company Peal & Co. With over 200 employees, Samuel Peal's company became one of the largest, most prestigious, and most productive of London's nineteenth-century manufacturers. Samuel developed a method for waterproofing shoes using a solution of Indian rubber to coat the leather with a thin, protective layer. London's wet climate ensured his success.
The company employed six generations of Peals, with the son of Samuel, Nathaniel Peal, apprenticing with his father before finding his own success as the steward of the company. His handcraft was selected for the Great Exhibition of 1851. The company's shoes continued to serve as exemplars for the British style and the durability of British manufacturers into the twentieth century. The cordwainers became known for their elegant lasts and royalty and celebrities alike purchased custom-made Peal & Co shoes. The company's records count Hugh Trevor-Roper, Fred Astaire, Gary Cooper, Rex Harrison, Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, Barry Goldwater, Conde Nast, Teddy Roosevelt, JFK, Laurence Olivier, Charles Chaplin, and many others amongst their clients.
Brooks Brothers has used the company's logo to sell British shoes after the company closed its doors in 1965. Brooks Brothers has sold Cheaney & Sons, Church's, Edward Green, Crockett & Jones, Alfred Sargent, and Loake Brothers shoes under the name Peal & Co.

Good, but not great
Color: White
I work from home, so having a really comfortable chair that supports my back and provides me a nice place to sit for 8 hours is really important to me. I ordered this chair in March 2023 and was really happy with it at first. Sleek, easy to put together, and comfortable. I then had an issue with it because after I sat on it while wearing leggings, the entire seat and armrests turned black from the fabric. No other furniture I own turns black from my leggings. I reached out to the seller and they were kind enough to provide me a replacement for the seat and the two armrests at no charge. I went through the whole summer and didn't wear leggings. However, I am now in Oct 2023 and wearing leggings again. The chair seat and armrests are black again, but there is also a lot of wear to the chair in general. I understand I sit in it a lot, but the seat lost its comfort factor. Additionally, I lean on the left armrest a lot and it shows - there is a large indent on it. The fake leather material is just not for me and the chair no longer looks attractive. I wish it lasted longer considering how much I paid for it.

Worth Every Penny
Color: Black
Bought this chair Aug 2023 and as i come up on 3 years with this chair i can say i absolutely love this chair.
i bought this chair when i was having very bad back pain and assuming my old chair was to small i decided to purchase it. Zero complaints about this chair at all, no rips, cuts or broken parts. The chair does have some cracking but that's because I'm fat so its a lot for the chair to hold on a daily bases. I give this chair a lot of props for removing my back pain considering my back pain was due to a popped gallbladder that was infected..
If you are reading reviews and looking for a good chair that's worth the money just get this. Its easy to assemble & it has great stability AND most importantly it holds the weight of myself.. I'm built like a butter ball turkey..

1 year review from a teleworker
Color: Grey
I purchased the Homall Office Chair in March of 2022, with high expectations of comfort and functionality. I liked how the chair looked, its price point, and it received positive reviews. Unfortunately, my experience with this chair has been underwhelming, to say the least. Several issues, ranging from poor quality to difficult assembly, have left me deeply dissatisfied with my purchase.
Let's start with the assembly process, which was an absolute nightmare. The instructions provided were not terrible, but not great either. It took me significantly longer than anticipated to assemble this chair, and I consider myself fairly handy. If you're not well-versed in putting together furniture, you may find yourself extremely frustrated.
Another significant issue I encountered was with the chair's hydraulic cylinder. It has already started failing, causing the chair to slowly sink, regardless of the adjustment settings. This rendered the height adjustment feature useless and made for an uncomfortable seating position. I expected a durable and reliable chair, but sadly, this was not the case.
The armrests were also a major disappointment. They started to deform and indent where my elbows and arms sit. The rest of the chair is fine. I can sit it in all day, so that is a positive. I mainly lean a bit forward and don't have time to lounge backward.
On top of all these issues, the Homall Office Chair proved to be quite noisy. Whenever I shifted my weight or made any slight movements, the chair emitted creaking and squeaking sounds. Not only was it an annoyance, but it also disrupted my concentration while working and is embarrassing on conference calls. Having such a distracting and low-quality chair in a professional environment is disappointing.
If I read this review I would have a couple of questions about the reviewer. I am 6'3" but well below the recommended weight. I review plans and specs as part of my job, so I am good with instructions. My hobby is woodworking which requires skill and a calm demeanor. Yes, I did retighten any connectors that became loose through normal wear and tear.
I should have spent more money on a quality chair since I am now looking to purchase a different chair 1 year later. I would advise others to take that into consideration. Spend a little more and keep less junk out of our landfills.

High Quality Rolling Chair
Color: Black/Silver
My son LOVES this desk chair. He has a drafting table to draw and do schoolwork on, and this provides him a comfortable chair to work in. It is sturdy and easy to clean. It does not fold, but it does roll easily. It was VERY EASY to put together. We were also pleased with the price. He will be able to use it for years to come.

The Greatest Chair I've Ever Sat In
Color: Black/Silver, Color: Black/Silver
When I was a boy, my first office chair that I used for PC and laptop work growing up was this chair. This was back before 2010 so it likely wasn't under the Amazon Basics brand but it was the exact same chair design. I've used that chair my entire life really and only had to buy this chair as a replacement as the leather started peeling significantly on my old chair after over 20 years of use. Even though the leather was heavily peeled, my old chair was still extremely comfortable and I would've kept on using it had I not gotten annoyed with having to pick up leather bits and pieces everyday from the peeling. I bought this chair as a replacement and the comfort is still as I remembered. No lower back pain, no butt numbness, no arm numbness, truly such a masterpiece of a chair where it lets you focus on the task at hand instead of focusing on the chair. Before I rebought this chair, I've bought & tried the Secretlab Titan Evo Nanogen, Furmax executive office chair, Neo executive office chair, RS high back gaming chair w/ flip-up armrests, Bestfair high-back office chair, FDW executive office chair, Herman Miller Aeron, and OFIKA executive office chair in search of a potential "upgrade" - every single one of these other chairs was inferior to the Amazon Basics high back office chair in one way or the other. The only thing I will note is that the pneumatic gas cylinder of the Amazon Basics office chair seems to be different from my original chair - it goes higher and has a higher minimum seat height. If you would like to perfectly replicate the original lower seat depth you will have to buy the S6124 extra short office chair gas lift cylinder from ChairPartsOnline - my only nitpick about such a phenomenal chair. In my attached picture I have the Amazon Basics chair w/ S6124 gas cylinder on the right next to the Furmax high-back office chair which although inferior is what I consider to be the 2nd best chair if for some reason you cannot get the Amazon Basics high-back office chair. To sum it up - I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CHAIR!!!
