No Money, No Beer, No Pennants: The Cleveland Indians and Baseball in the Great DepressionThe Cleveland Indians of 1928 were a far cry from the championship team of 1920. The Cleveland Indians of 1928 were a far cry from the championship team of 1920. They had begun the decade as the best team in all of baseball, but over the following eight years, their owner died, the great Tris Speaker retired in the face of a looming scandal, and the franchise was in terrible shape. Seeing opportunity in the upheaval, Cleveland real estate mogul Alva Bradley purchased the ball club in 1927, infused it with cash, and filled its roster with star players such as Bob Feller, Earl Averill, and Hal Trosky. He aligned himself with civic leaders to push for a gigantic new stadium that-along with the team that played in it-would be the talk of the baseball world.

Then came the stock market crash of 1929. Municipal Stadium was built, despite the collapse of the industrial economy in Rust Belt cities, but the crowds did not follow. Always the shrewd businessman, Bradley had engineered a lease agreement with the city of Cleveland that included an out clause, and he exercised that option after the 1934 season, leaving the 80,000-seat, multimillion-dollar stadium without a tenant.

In No Money, No Beer, No Pennants, Scott H. Longert gives us a lively history of the ups and downs of a legendary team and its iconic players as they persevered through internal unrest and the turmoil of the Great Depression, pursuing a pennant that didn't come until 1948. Illustrated with period photographs and filled with anecdotes of the great players, this book will delight fans of baseball and fans of Cleveland.

Dog Loves this toy!
Color: Crab
Keeps our poodle entertained and excited. The rechargeable battery lasts a long time. You can make it play crazy music or just shake. It’s hilarious to watch him play with it. It’s very chew resistant, and believe me, he tries his best to destroy it. If you have a high energy dog, they’re gonna love it.

Great toy for puppies!
Color: Turtle
I love this turtle. My toy poodle puppy has boundless energy. She loves this thing. It keeps her busy so I can get laundry and other things done. I am buying a second one for when the first one loses its charge😂

It broke within the week
Color: Turtle
The toy was ADORABLE, it worked very well for the first week. And then it broke. I bought two for my puppy and my 8 year old shih tzus. It stopped vibrating and just made loud grinding and squeaking noises. I would recommend this toy if it lasted longer.

Offers tons of activity
Color: Turtle
My 70lb dog LOVES this turtle toy, was worth the price. He will play and play until he’s exhausted. We have to give him breaks from it. We use the second setting which is just for movement, no music. The only aspect I don’t like is that he will inadvertently press the button when he’s biting the toy, changing the setting and sometimes has turned it off. The velcro is super strong, which is good but makes it difficult to open. Battery life is decent, lasted a few days with him playing with it an hour or so each evening. I like the auto shut off after 30 minutes of no movement.

Great toy for a dog who is not afraid of noises
Color: Crab
My puppy loves this thing! She was confused at first but now she plays with it daily. I just let it jump and sing the first time. She looked at it with the cutest head tilt. It is a bit loud so if you have a dog that's scared of noises this might be the right toy. Now when she picks it up, I turn it on and she gets so excited! The different songs make the toy less annoying for me, lol. Honestly, anything to tire out a 4 month old puppy. She is very entertaining to watch.
