ENGLISH DESCRIPTION

Longlisted for the 2023 Carnegie Medal for Excellence.

Selected as One of Barack Obama's Summer 2022 Reading List Picks!

In this New York Times bestseller and Today show Read with Jenna Book Club Pick, one lapse in judgement lands a young mother in a government reform program where custody of her child hangs in the balance, in this "surreal" (People), "remarkable" (Vogue), and "infuriatingly timely" (The New York Times Book Review) debut novel.

Frida Liu is struggling. She doesn't have a career worthy of her Chinese immigrant parents' sacrifices. She can't persuade her husband, Gust, to give up his wellness-obsessed younger mistress. Only with Harriet, their cherubic daughter, does Frida finally attain the perfection expected of her. Harriet may be all she has, but she is just enough.

Until Frida has a very bad day.

The state has its eye on mothers like Frida. The ones who check their phones, letting their children get injured on the playground; who let their children walk home alone. Because of one moment of poor judgement, a host of government officials will now determine if Frida is a candidate for a Big Brother-like institution that measures the success or failure of a mother's devotion.

Faced with the possibility of losing Harriet, Frida must prove that a bad mother can be redeemed. That she can learn to be good.

An "intense" (Oprah Daily), "captivating" (Today) page-turner that is also a transgressive novel of ideas about the perils of "perfect" upper-middle class parenting; the violence enacted upon women by both the state and, at times, one another; the systems that separate families; and the boundlessness of love, The School for Good Mothers introduces, in Frida, an everywoman for the ages. Using dark wit to explore the pains and joys of the deepest ties that bind us, Chan has written a modern literary classic.

Durable and great value
Color: Paw Print, Size: 8 inches
Best thing we ever bought our Frenchie. It keeps him busy and he gets a great workout in. The tabs make it easier and for me to grab and throw for him. They also allow him to grab them and run with the ball. Only thing he hasn't destroys. Very durable and easy to inflate with enclosed pump.

Soccer pups
Color: Green-M
This one is a must toy for the pup who loves to chase balls and chew. I bought one for our pup and our daughter's pup. Both have a blast with it and so do the adults. The only improvement I would make is the straps need to be more durable- they haven't frayed which is good for the pup who likes to chew everything, but some have torn. The ball itself has stayed intact though; its fairly bouncy too; which makes for fun times

Great toy:) but doesn't last long
Color: Green-M
This ball was actually really great!. I bought a few different toy balls for our puppy to play with and Aka (our puppy) found this one to be the best. Aka loves carrying things with his mouth. I also think he found it enjoyable, with all the pull tabs, to carry this ball around instead of trying to fit it in his mouth. I waited around 2 weeks to write this since that's how long it took Aka to destroy the ball:) At least it wasn't within the first day. We have a bigger dog an American Bulldog that's about 90lbs and he punctured this ball within the first day but it held up for a little. It's the same as a soccer ball really, not super tough and if you have dogs with big bite forces that are heavy chewers they'll destroy this so fast! But i like the design of this toy and I think it made a great toy while it lasted! It did deflate when it got punctured and held some air for about a week. With constant play it deflated completely after that. It was also the same size as a soccer ball.
