TBS Lucid DroneCAN Airspeed Sensor Pro

Look, we get it. You think you can judge your stall speed by the sound of the wind whistling through your poorly glued canopy. You’re wrong. Unless you enjoy the walk of shame to retrieve your 'unplanned landing' from a cow pasture, you need an actual airspeed sensor. The TBS Lucid DroneCAN Airspeed Sensor Pro is here to tell you exactly how fast the air is moving, even if your GPS is hallucinating because of that cloud you just flew through.

Why You Actually Want This

Unlike that cheap sensor you found in the bargain bin, this one speaks DroneCAN. That means it’s smarter than your average peripheral and won't throw a tantrum if your wiring isn't NASA-grade. It’s based on the DLVR-L10D sensor, which is fancy talk for 'this thing is ridiculously accurate.' It’s basically a speedometer for your plane that doesn't care about ground speed, because ground speed is for losers who don't understand headwind dynamics.

Technical Nerd Stuff (Specifications)

  • CAN & I2C Interface
  • CAN JST-GH connector, DroneCAN Protocol
  • I2C JST-GH connector, DLVR-L10D I2C mode
  • Firmware: ArduPilot AP_Periph TBS-L431-Airspeed  (Update via DroneCAN GUI Tool)
  • CAN status LED, Orange
  • Fast blinking, No communication between CAN node and Flight Controllers
  • Slow blinking, Communicating between CAN node and Flight Controllers
  • 3.3V Power LED, Orange
  • Input voltage range: 4~6V
  • Power consumption: 60mA
  • Operating Temperatures: -20°C to 85°C
  • Pressure range:362psi/2500kPa
  • Airspeed range: ±250 km/h
  • Accuracy: ±0.30%
  • Output Signal Type:14bit
  • Dimensions:35mm*22mm*12mm
  • Weight:4g

In the Box

  • 1x TBS Lucid DroneCAN Airspeed Sensor Pro
  • 1x Stainless Steel Pitot Tube (Because plastic is for toys)
  • 1x Silicone Tubing (The stretchy stuff)
  • 2x CANBUS cables (4-pin, 20cm)

Compatibility & Setup

Designed for ArduPilot addicts. For the CAN bus purists, set CAN_P1_DRIVER = 1 and ARSPD_TYPE = 8. If you're still living in the past with I2C, set ARSPD_TYPE = 9. It’s not rocket science, though technically, it is aerospace engineering.

Highlights

  • No Bus Noise: CAN protocol means your sensor won't have a mid-flight existential crisis due to interference.
  • Plug and Play: JST-GH connectors mean no more soldering tiny pads with your shaky, caffeine-fuelled hands.
  • Industrial Grade: Operates from -20°C to 85°C, just in case you decide to fly in a volcano or a blizzard.

Notes

Mount the pitot tube away from prop wash. Yes, we have to say that because some 'spec-nerd' will try to mount it directly behind a prop and wonder why they're hitting Mach 1 on the bench.

Disclaimer

Does not include flying skills. TBS and Unmanned Tech are not responsible for stalls caused by ignoring the very data this sensor provides.

Great plates
Color: 10 in 500 White
Was sick of buying 50 plates at a time from the grocery store all the time. These are durable, not thin or flimsy like most. Even moist food wont leak through. Good stuff
