The 2022 Trevarrick Shiraz is a reflection of our estate’s most exceptional vineyard parcels. “Trevarrick Farm” was the original name of our property when it was settled in the 1850s, and today, the Trevarrick name is reserved for wines crafted from select contour blocks on our high-elevation, dry-grown vineyards. Planted in 1970, these vines have flourished on the rugged slopes of Skillogalee, producing low-yielding fruit with remarkable intensity and character. Each block is harvested and vinified separately, with only the most outstanding parcels selected for Trevarrick.

A deep crimson hue introduces this Shiraz, offering a layered bouquet of blackberry, black cherry, and plum, lifted by notes of black pepper, clove, and dried herbs. The palate is rich and concentrated, with dark fruit spice, fine-grained tannins, and a long, elegant finish. Basket-pressed and matured for 18 months in 100% French oak hogsheads, this wine balances power with finesse. While immediately expressive, it has the structure to evolve beautifully over the next 10-20 years.

Vintage

The 2022 vintage produced consistently high-quality wines across both red and white varieties. A cool, dry summer and early autumn provided ideal ripening conditions, delivering fruit with excellent natural acidity and full varietal flavours. Despite a late start due to a cool spring and summer, red varieties showed remarkable quality, with optimal flavour ripeness achieved before harvest. Although there was isolated frost and poor fruit set, the region avoided significant weather damage.

Funny and not too harsh
Format: Hardcover
This is a funny little book that even most religious people should be able to enjoy. It doesn't go too far in poking fun. A highlight is the peek inside Flanders' head where one can inspect the varioius compartments of his mind. --Guy P.
