Scott Summers was an introspective orphan after witnessing the apparent murder of his parents by emperor D’ken, a member of the royal family of the Shi`ar extraterrestrial empire. After escaping the orphanage of the nefarious Mister Sinister, when his mutant powers manifested Scott was rescued by Professor Xavier, headmaster of a school destined to help mutants control their abilities. To guarantee the pacific coexistence between humans and mutants, Xavier created a task force in the form of a group he called the X-Men, and Scott, as his first student, taking the codename of Cyclops, was the founding member and the most emblematic field leader of the mutant heroes. He guided other mutants in countless missions and adventures and even had to take a more extreme stance to guarantee the survival of his race. Years later, although Scott has had other romantic relationships, he married his teammate Jean Grey, with whom he has had a strong connection since the origin of the X-Men.
