“Schäf” Spätlese 2024 is een klassieke Mosel Spätlese in de beste zin van het woord: laag in alcohol, maar rijk aan spanning en detail. In de neus frisse citrus, rijpe peer en witte perzik, aangevuld met florale toetsen en een duidelijke, stenige leisteenindruk. In de mond combineert de wijn sappigheid en verfijnde zoetheid met levendige zuren, waardoor het geheel strak en energiek blijft. De afdronk is lang, zuiver en mineraal, met een licht zilt accent.

Vinificatie.
Het domein specificeert voor deze cuvée geen exacte vinificatiedetails of rijpingsduur. Weingut Melsheimer werkt met spontane vergisting en voedt zijn Rieslings traditioneel op in grote eikenhouten Fuder-vaten (ca. 1.000 liter).

Weingut Melsheimer (Reil) is een toonaangevend familiebedrijf aan de Mosel, geleid door Thorsten Melsheimer, dat bekendstaat om een compromisloze, natuurlijke aanpak en extreme geduld in de kelder. Het domein werkt biologisch en biodynamisch (Demeter) met sterke focus op bodemleven, biodiversiteit en handwerk op de steile hellingen. In de kelder draait alles om spontane vergisting, lange rijping en zo weinig mogelijk correcties, zodat de leisteen-signatuur en de energie van Riesling maximaal intact blijven.

How many dog toys have you bought that just laid on the floor unused?

New husky has more energy than an entire pre-school - even being walked more than three miles a day wasn’t sufficient to drain her excess energy. I threw the dice on this - and it’s AWESOME. Comes with an extra rope and an extra side piece. Rechargeable with a USB-C cable. When you turn it on, the blue LEDs flash, the entire device buzzes, bounces, and races back and forth across the floor. After a couple of days of uncertainty, my new husky LOVES this. She chases it around, grabs it by the attached rope and carries it from room to room. After a short bit of activity, the toy goes into ‘sleep’ mode, until either the dog touches it again or a timer has elapsed, and then it fires up and starts buzzing and racing around the floor again. From a full charge, the toy will keep your dog entertained all day. Bright orange color makes it much easier to find when it’s rolled behind the toilet (as it did this afternoon). Sturdy. Highly resistant to chew damage. If this one wears out or breaks, I’ll absolutely get another one.
