Het menselijke skelet bestaat uit vele gewrichten. Onze gewrichten kunnen vergeleken worden met scharnieren tussen twee losstaande en aangrenzende beenderen. Zonder gewrichten kunnen we niet bewegen, ze zijn samengesteld uit vele fragiele en minder fragiele elementen.

Kraakbeen is onderworpen aan een mechanische wet: hoe meer het gebruikt wordt, hoe meer het kan verslijten. Leeftijd speelt hierbij waarschijnlijk een belangrijke rol. De gewrichten die het meest getroffen worden zijn die van de heupen, de knie, de wervelkolom en de vingers. De evolutie gaat in het algemeen traag, maar kan, afhankelijk van de plaats evolueren, eventueel met opstoten, of opnieuw stabiliseren. Wat de evolutie ook is, het eindresultaat is, vanaf het moment waarop de eerste tekenen zich voordoen, een stijfheid van de gewrichten en moeilijker en ongemakkelijk bewegen. Het is daarom zeer belangrijk om de veroudering van de gewrichten te controleren. Kraakbeen is grotendeels samengesteld uit watermolecules, die gevangen zitten in een netwerk, waarvan eveneens glucosaminesulfaat, chondroïtinesulfaat, kraakbeencellen en collageen deel uitmaken.

Perfect if you're anything like me

I have about 20 small jewelry boxes sitting in my closet, stacked up high, threatening to topple over any time I reach over them to grab something else. I don't know what's in those boxes, except that it's jewelry I purchased and liked well enough to keep so that I could wear it again. But since all of the pieces are closed up inside, I almost never wear them because I don't want to dig through all 20 boxes to find the 1 thing I want when I'm already almost late to wherever I'm going. If ANY of that sounds anything like you, you need this jewelry box. Is it the most premium thing you've ever seen? No, but does it have a lot of storage space for a pretty compact form factor and hold a ton of stuff? Yes, it totally does. And is the price super reasonable? Yes, it is. And if you kind of squint at it, and look through softer eyes, it doesn't really matter that yes, this is kind of cheaply constructed, and the dividers do move around a little bit because they're not anchored to the sides of the trays. I was able to consolidate all of those jewelry boxes down into this one box, and I no longer need to hold my breath when I try to grab something over the top of the pile because I was able to throw. them. all. out! The satisfaction of purging my own personal leaning tower of Pisa was worth the price alone. But onto the nitty gritty details: yes, the see-through part is acrylic and not glass. I'm okay with that because I don't need more breakable things sitting in my closet. Yes, the dividers aren't super stable. I'm okay with that because they work well enough and keep each piece where it belongs. Yes, it's pleather (aka "vegan leather"). I'm okay with that because I don't need cow hide to hold my jewelry to make it feel more precious, especially because most of my jewelry is pretty inexpensive stuff anyways. I don't notice any glaring cosmetic defects when looking at it, aside from the one very squiggly scratch in my acrylic top that doesn't bother me too much, but since it does mean that quality control may be a bit lacking, this gets a very solid 4 stars.
