Wat is lactoferrine?
Lactoferrine is een lichaamseigen ijzerbindend eiwit dat onder meer voorkomt in de slijmvliezen, de luchtwegen en het maagdarmkanaal. Het woord ‘lacto’ verwijst naar de rijkste bron: melk. ‘Ferrine’ verwijst naar het belangrijke vermogen van lactoferrine om zich aan ijzer te binden.
