De vlag van Frans-Polynesië bestaat uit twee rode horizontale banen met een witte baan in het midden, waarin een kleurrijk embleem staat met een zon, boot en golven. Symboliek en achtergrond

Het centrale embleem toont een Polynesische prauw (boot) met vijf menselijke figuren die de vijf eilandgroepen vertegenwoordigen: de Genootschapseilanden, de Tuamotu-eilanden, de Marquesaseilanden, de Austral-eilanden en de Gambiereilanden. De zon en golven symboliseren leven, zeevaart en verbondenheid. De vlag werd officieel aangenomen op 23 november 1984 en is een aanvulling op de Franse driekleur die ook officieel gevoerd wordt.
